Portland Timbers Are Suddenly Badass

Have you seen the new MLS commercial featuring one of the new expansion clubs, Portland Timbers?

If you haven’t, then here:

Now, THAT was a commercial. If I was a neutral, I would have been nearly hooked by that. They encapsulated everything one would imagine living in Oregon is like as a soccer fan. As Duke Nukem would say, “It’s time to kick ass and chew bubble gum, and i’m all outta gum.”

There is just something completely awesome about men/women/children holding axes, chainsaws and band saws. Oh, right. It’s the fact that they look completely pissed off and might kill you.

Portland has, throughout their brief MLS history, done a few good commercials. The lead-up to their badge announcement had some pretty solid commercials as well.

This one will start you off. You can get the rest.

Portland seems to be continuing the fire that most recent expansion clubs have brought to the MLS. This bodes well for the league, as well as its’ supporters. Get excited. Portland’s coming to kick your ass.

(Oh, and their commercials are much better than this gem from the old Miami Fusion)

So Portland, whatever you are doing — continue to do it. Keep giving me awesome commercials every couple months. Sadly, it is not March yet, and I need a MLS fix. I need one bad.

What do you mean are suddenly badass? MLS is just learning about what Portland has been like all along.
