Why Landon Needs Everton

The LA Times reported that Landon Donovan is going to decide whether or not to return to the Toffees a month from now.

Landon, I can save you a lot of time and energy:

GO BACK TO EVERTON!

Donovan had a pretty good season for the Galaxy, missing out on the MLS Cup Final after LA laid down and died against FC Dallas. He has the talent to succeed in the Premiership, and he should take advantage of that. Personally, it would be great to see him make a permanent move to Everton, or another Premier League club, but that is probably out of the question.

With that said, Donovan should go to Everton, if not only for the ability to get more Premier League experience, but Everton really liked having him there. He was popular with the fans, and was liked by David Moyes, the Toffees manager.

He had two goals and three assists in seven league matches with Everton. This would be a good move for him, for the USMNT and for Everton. It can only be positive for him to get more time on the pitch with Tim Howard, as well.

Get it done, Landon. It’s in all of our best interests if you go.

Landon is in a difficult position right now.

As far as his career is concerned, we may assume that he will be exposed to talent of a higher caliber playing in UEFA.

However, he has, either actively or accidentally, grown into an icon of American Soccer success.

The future of the sport in the US will be impacted by his decision. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind.
